Proclamation of Election
As a result of the resignation of Joseph C. Borelli from the City Council effective January 31, 2025, a vacancy has been created in the seat he has held as a Council Member for the fifty-first Council district. Accordingly, pursuant to the authority vested in me by Section 25(b)(l) and 25(b)(6) of the New York City Charter, and in order to facilitate maximum voter participation, I hereby proclaim that a special election shall be held in the fifty-first Council district on April 29, 2025, to elect a Council Member to serve until December 31, 2025. Pursuant to Section 25(b)(7) of the Charter, nomination of candidates in this election shall be by independent nominating petition.
