Al Sharpton’s Politics Nation 10/11/25 recounted that a New York Times Analysis found that in President Trump’s first 200 days, only 2 out of 98 administrative appointments went to African Americans – that’s less than 2%. This is much less than the 21% under President Biden, and the 13% under President Obama.
In addition to the lack of hiring, there have been the massive firings. The white house has been systematically removing Black officials whose positions typically serve multiple administrations. Gen. Charles Q. Brown Jr. – Joint Chiefs of Staff, Carla Hayden – Librarian for the Library of Congress, Alvin Brown – National Transportation Safety Board; were all fired; most of whom were replaced by white Americans.
The same is true for the rank and file government workers. The Department of Education, US AID, and the IRS, in particular. Al Sharpton reports that we can make no mistake: The government is using this opportunity as a laboratory to assail “DEI“ [ Diversity, Equity and Inclusion] Programs, and to roll back many of the gains made by the Civil Rights Movement since 1965.
Now, the Trump administration has already caused great economic harm; more than 300,000 black women have been fired from their Federal jobs.
There was a time when the Federal Government offered stable, rewarding, jobs to people who would otherwise face discrimination in the private sector. These jobs were also unionized and provided benefits such as health insurance and retirement plans.
This administration would rather push the idea that Blacks are either “incompetent” or “untrustworthy”.
The MAGA (Make America Great Again) campaigns which resulted in Trump’s election, were used to try to convince Americans that the threats to their jobs were due to ‘liberals’ or ’ immigrants’. As it turns out, the real threat to so-called “Black jobs” was always Donald J. Trump.
