Poland Central School Drama Club presents Disney’s ‘Beauty and the Beast Jr.’
Poland Central School District’s Drama Club students are set to bring the excitement of Disney’s “Beauty and The Beast Jr.” to the stage this year. Within one week of tickets going on sale for the regularly scheduled Friday and Saturday performances, over 50% of the tickets were sold, creating the need to add a showing, moving the opening night to Thursday, March 27, at 6 p.m.

“I am excited to play Belle because I grew up watching Disney movies, and she has always been my favorite,” said Hailey Carnright, a Poland senior and lead actress who has filled a variety of roles during her time with drama club.
Grace McOwen, a Poland junior who assists with many areas of the production process and has been the stage manager for several past shows, commented on the fun of putting together the set, props, and costumes.
“The actors have a script they have to strictly follow but when it comes to the set, costumes, and props, we have a lot of leeway to be creative and make it our own,” McOwen said.
The Drama Club advisors and show directors, Mike Gagnon and Margaret Kraeger, are excited to be working with the biggest cast either of them has worked with. Not only was it one of the biggest showings for auditions and casting amongst the club’s normal sixth through twelfth grade student base, but this show allowed for an opportunity to invite students from grades four and five to join the production.

Join us for an unforgettable evening filled with enchanting music and an incredible cast of talented students. This classic story of love and transformation is perfect for audiences of all ages.
The performances are scheduled for Thursday, March 27, at 6 p.m., Friday, March 28, at 7 p.m. and Saturday, March 29, at 2 p.m. in the school’s Walker Auditorium.
