Poccia Has Earned a Judicial Review

UTICA: Common Council Candidate Lou Poccia has earned a judicial review of objections to his NoHospital Dwtn nominating petition.
The review will begin at 9:30 amWednesday, September 27 in the Supreme Court Chamber of the Oneida County Court House in Rome, NY.
Poccia is optimistic the review will qualify him and the “NoHospital Dwtn†line for a place on the general election ballot in November.
Only two more signatures must qualify for that to happen. Thirty-one are needed. Poccia has submitted a total of 50. He believes all qualify.
The signature objections came from a person with the same family name as his opponent, who is now on the Common Council. The two Oneida County election commissioners accepted enough of the objections to block Poccia from getting the “NoHospital Dwtn†ballot position.
Poccia already has Republican, Conservative, and Reform party endorsements. TheNoHospital Dwtn line would give him a fourth ballot position.
Poccia seeks to represent the first ward on the Utica Common Council.  The first ward covers downtown and parts of East and West Utica, including the site of the proposed new MVHS hospital.
