Phoenix Radio CEO and Chris Woods to Perform at Guitars Along the Mohawk

Sunday, November 10 at 1pm,  the Rome Capitol Theatre will present “Guitars Along the Mohawk”, a local music showcase. The special concert features several popular local musicians performing their original material live onstage for a television program to be broadcast in early 2025.

Performing during the benefit concert will be:  Gridley Paige Naked and Scared, Sydney Irving, Cassandra Harris-Lockwood with Chris Woods, Mark Macri with Ed Gorham, Justin Smithson, Bill Carman, and Rocky Feola. This year’s version of the show will be hosted by Katie Keating who will also be performing.

Guitars Along the Mohawk is a continuation of a TV series that began in 1987 and aired on WTUV-Fox 33 (the present WFXV Fox 33). Three shows were produced by J.R. Jones and featured Jon Liebing as the host. The first two shows were held at the Valley Brook Lounge in New Hartford and the third show was held at the Club Gazebo in Rome, located at the current location of Denny’s.

Musicians Mark Macri, who will be performing with Ed Gorham, and Danny Holmes, who will be performing with his wife Rose as the duo Rose n Thorne, performed at the first show in 1987. It was their first time performing together.

This show, as in the past shows, will be presented as a TV production , complete with applause lights and cameras. If you’ve ever been to a TV production like The Tonight Show or other  live to tape produced TV shows, you will know that the crowd will be cued for outro and intro of performance segments that will be later assembled into a one hour program.

This show is a fundraiser for the Capitol. All performers are donating their time for the project

Capitol Arts Complex Marketing Manager Rick E Lewis: “This is a great win -win for everyone involved. The musicians are offered a platform to present their original material to an audience that is there to listen to the music. Many times these performers are balancing crowd pleasing cover songs with their own material. Here they have the undivided attention of the audience in an environment that is designed for presenting their songs, the Capitol benefits from the money raised by the attendees who are presented with a unique live music experience”

Tickets for Guitars Along the Mohawk are $10 and are available at the door or in advance from romecapitol.com, at the Capitol Theatre box office, Monday through Friday 11am-4pm or online in person or by phone at (315) 337-6277, or online at www.romecapitol.com
