PETERBORO FREEDOM FOLK FESTIVAL

The gates will open at 2:00, Saturday, June 20 at the Gerrit Smith Estate, 5304 Oxbow Road in Peterboro NY for the Juneteenth Freedom Folk Festival rain or shine! Exterior exhibits and four bands for one price of $20 advance http://www.PeterboroNY.org and $25 at the gate.
At 3 pm Foxrow will commence the musical afternoon with Emma Jude’s jazzy, rock influences blended with Seth Owen Becker’s folk and indie roots. The accomplished singers/songwriters bring to life a full spectrum of tunes with themes ranging from love, loss, long travels, and the optimism in the face of life’s all too familiar trials.
At 4 pm SAMMY award-winning eighteen-year old singer, songwriter, and multi- instrumentalist Mira Grimm and band play a wide range of blues, Americana, and finger style guitar.  Mira’s songwriting has been described as “prolific” and is compared to artists such as Bonnie Raitt, Carole King, and Paul McCartney.
At 5 pm the Wescott Jug Suckers fuse a blend of blues, jug band, zydeco, and old school rock ‘n’ roll to create a fun and unusual mix. A washboard is the rhythm section and the alto sax replaces the bass guitar, with the rest of the lineup filled by a harmonica, a dobro and mandolin player, and guitarist and singer Colin Aberdeen.
At 6:15 pm Rod Macdonald, a tenor with a clear voice and wide range, presents his often-cited musicality and song content about political and social events. A musician at age eleven, a reporter covering the Pentagon Papers trial, honorably discharged from Officer’s Training School, and a law school graduate, Macdonald’s musical style includes rock, pop, country, light jazz and blues. Bring your own chair. Do not bring food or beverages as the Smithfield Volunteer Fire Department will provide hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs, cold salads, and assorted sodas and water. The SVFD can accept cash, check, or credit cards. Foothill Hops Beer and Wine Truck will also be on site
