Onondaga County election officials to recount votes after errors found

Some races could be impacted by an Onondaga County early voting recount.

A recent ballot reconciliation process revealed that 802 early voting ballots were accidentally not counted.

Poll workers will begin to re-scan all 9,700 early votes on Friday.

With some tight races across the board, election officials are not ruling anything out.

“Going by where those votes were cast, that we believe were cast in DeWitt Town Hall, there are some very close races over in Manlius which would be the logical place that they would show up and vote at, but until we run those ballots we won’t know,” said Onondaga County Democratic Elections Commissioner Dustin Czarny.

Officials will announce the unofficial results when all of those ballots are re-scanned.

There are still 6,300 absentee ballots that they will begin counting on Tuesday before certifying the election on Nov. 24.
