The Oneida County Domestic Violence High Risk Assessment Team is officially in place, announced by Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol Tuesday.
The group will meet regularly to review any domestic violence cases that fall into a high risk category to come up with intervention plans to help those in danger. The primary goal is to focus on the safety of the victim and to hold the offender accountable.
Members of the team says the program was much needed for the Oneida County Community.
“So because of this team because of all the people involved the victims get help form everyone. So from the police departments, the YWCA, probation, everyone, DA’s office, we’re involved and it’s really going to be, we’re seeing it be effective and I think it’s going to be more effective to save lives,” said Dianne Stancato, CEO of YWCA Mohawk Valley.
The program was officially implemented in June and Stancato says, so far, four arrests have already been made.
