On Point for College launches new paid winter internship program

On Point for College, in partnership with New York State, is launching a brand new paid internship program this winter. The program allows On Point to sponsor paid internships for students and graduates from Syracuse and Utica. Through this program, On Point’s students will have the opportunity to obtain on-the- job experience in the industries they’re preparing for careers in, while being paid for their work.

All too often our students are forced to prioritize paid summer and school break employment over internships, because they simply can’t afford to accept unpaid internships.

The program will also provide a unique opportunity for many of our employer partners who cannot otherwise afford to hire interns.
For its inaugural round, which kicks off this month, the program has matched thirty-six current college students and recent graduates from Syracuse and Utica with employers in both communities.

Since 1999, On Point has helped more than 7,800 low-income young people enroll in more than 200 colleges and universities. Most are the first in their families to attend
college.
