“Today, Oneida County took legal action against New York State in response to Governor Hochul’s unjust Executive Order #47.3 that prohibits any government within the state from hiring any of the correction officers fired en masse for any type of position. Above all, we made a commitment to stand up for the basic rights of these correction officers and their livelihoods, in addition to defending the home rule of local governments.
Oneida County filed an action to stop Governor Hochul’s gross overreach and abuse in New York State Supreme Court in Albany County. We are seeking a Preliminary Injunction, Temporary Restraining Order and Temporary Stay of the Governor’s executive order. I thank the Oneida County Attorney’s Office, led by County Attorney Amanda Cortese-Kolasz, for their great and swift work on this matter. Oneida County will continue to pursue all means to see that this order is reversed.”
