State Police Investigating Fatal Collision on Palisades Interstate Parkway
On the morning of December 6, 2024, State Troopers from the Haverstraw barracks responded to a single-vehicle crash on the northbound side of the Palisades Interstate Parkway (PIP) in the town of Highlands, NY. The incident occurred at approximately 6:05 a.m.
According to preliminary investigations, a 2019 Subaru traveling north unexpectedly veered off the roadway for reasons yet to be determined. The vehicle struck a tree in the median, just beyond exit 19. Authorities have identified the driver as a 45-year-old off-duty NYPD officer from New Windsor, NY.
Emergency services transported the driver to St. Luke’s Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
