Dear Editor,
I took a week’s vacation last week and hoped it would help calm my troubled spirit. But every time I even glanced at the news I became more down. It felt like the world, which had been spiraling downward for awhile, was now hurtling towards destruction with our country’s administration leading the way. Saturday was “No Kings Day”, so I searched for a rally I could attend on my way home. Arriving at the “No Kings” protest, I felt my hopelessness lift and a sense of oneness with the other attendees, and all people who might want to come out but are afraid.
Attending a peaceful rally or protest is not only exercising our right to free speech, but is balm for our souls. We are all in this together! We cannot lose hope! So glad I feel safe to be present and speak out at this challenging time in our country’s history!
