State Police respond to five car crash on I-84 in the town of Kent
On December 18, 2024, at approximately 6:51 a.m., State Police were called to I-84 westbound near mile post 63.3 in the town of Kent for a multi-vehicle collision.
An investigation revealed that traffic was slowing for an unknown reason, when one motorist failed to slow in time causing a chain reaction five vehicle rear end collision. The vehicles came to rest in the lanes of travel blocking the Interstate.
The operator of an uninvolved dump truck was unable to stop and avoid the crashed vehicles and lost control, driving into the center median and colliding with a guiderail.
Three motorists were transported to Danbury Hospital with minor injuries.
All lanes have since reopened.
Physical Domestic leads to arrest in the town of Wilmington
On December 17, 2024, State Police members arrested Jacob E. Dahl, age 37, of Wilmington, NY, for 2 counts of criminal possession of a weapon 4th, criminal possession of a weapon 3rd-previous conviction, criminal possession of a weapon 2nd-loaded firearm, criminal possession of a firearm, and assault 3rd.
On December 17, 2024, at approximately 9:49 a.m., Troopers responded to Winch Mountain Way in the town of Wilmington for a physical domestic. An investigation determined Dahl and the victim were involved in a verbal argument, which turned physical when Dahl struck the victim in the face multiple times. The victim sustained two smell lacerations to the forehead and lower lip. The victim declined medical attention. While interviewing both parties involved in the altercation, it was brought to the Trooper’s attention that there were firearms in the house. Dahl is a convicted felon and is not allowed to possess firearms.
Dahl was arrested and transported to SP Ray Brook for processing. He was arraigned in the Town of North Elba Court, where he was remanded to Essex County Jail in lieu of $15,000 cash bail or $30,000 secured bond.
A welfare check in the town of Plattsburgh turns into an arrest
On December 17, 2024, at approximately 8:56 p.m., Troopers responded to Luciana at Quality Inn located on Route 3 in the town of Plattsburgh for a welfare check of two children. An investigation determined that Jazette Jimenez, age 38, of Mooers, NY, was highly intoxicated with two small children in his presence. When the Troopers were interviewing Jimenez, he was not listening to commands from the Troopers or the Clinton County Sheriff’s Department during the investigation. He was refusing to open the door fully to check the safety status of the children. While speaking to Jimenez, law enforcement could smell a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage. Jimenez eventually opened the door and started being combative with law enforcement while the children were near him. Troopers were able to get the children away from the physical altercation between Jimenez and law enforcement. Jimenez was placed into custody and transported to SP Plattsburgh for processing. The two children were turned over to their mother for safekeeping. At SP Plattsburgh Jimenez continued to be combative and not corporate. Jimenez was charged with 2 counts of endangering the welfare of a child, obstruction of governmental administration 2nd, and resisting arrest. He was arraigned in the Town of Peru Court where he was remanded to Clinton County jail without bail.
Kingston Man Arrested on DWI Charges
Eric J. VanAllen, age 46, from Kingston, NY, was arrested on December 13, 2024 for DWI, an unclassified misdemeanor.
On December 13, 2024, at approximately 12:54 a.m., Troopers responded to a 911 call for two males sleeping in a vehicle at the intersection of State Route 208 and State Route 44/55. Upon arrival, they observed a 2025 Dodge Power Ram pickup truck stopped at the intersection of State Route 208 and State Route 44/55 and observed a male seemingly sleeping in the driver’s seat of the vehicle. The passenger of the vehicle also appeared to be asleep in the passenger’s seat.
VanAllen was subsequently arrested and transported to SP Highland for processing. He was processed and released and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Gardiner Court on January 8, 2025.
