NAACP ROME BRANCH and LEAGUE OF WOMEN VOTERS OF UTICA ROME METRO INVITES PUBLIC TO MEET THE CANDIDATES, Tuesday, October 20, 2026 from 6:00pm-8:00pm at Strough Middle School, 801 Laurel Street, Rome, NY. Candidates for Oneida County Clerk and Oneida County Sheriff positions will attend to enable voters to hear the candidates and question them about important issues in the Tuesday, November 3, 2026 election. We thank all the candidates for their willingness to run for office and serve their community.
At least two candidates for each race must be present or that portion of the program will be cancelled. Michael Brown and Mary Finegan are the candidates for County Clerk and Jared Pearl and Robert Maciol are candidates for County Sheriff. Event format consists of the candidates making timed opening and closing statements and answering questions submitted by NAACP Rome Branch and the League, as well as by the audience.
No campaign materials, apparel, or merchandise will be allowed as this is a non-partisan event. Only approved media will be allowed to videotape the event, although the press is always welcome, and candidates have signed video and guidelines governing any posting of video and/or still photography. Guidelines will be announced at the beginning of the event and strictly enforced.
