MWPAI Honors Former President and Trustee

UTICA, NY…The board of trustees at Munson-Williams-Proctor Arts Institute have bestowed the title of president emeritus to Anthony Spiridigloizzi and trustee emeritus to Richard Griffith.

Spiridigloizzi retired in 2017 after 35 years serving first as treasurer, vice president, and president in 2011. During his tenure, Munson-Williams saw the greatest growth in its history, including the establishment of the PrattMWP College of Art and Design, major construction projects, dynamic exhibitions with record-breaking attendance, the expansion of the Community Arts Education Program, renowned additions to the permanent collection, and more. Equally important was his impact on the community. “Tony had the vision to make Munson-Williams more welcoming and more relevant, and he saw that vision to realization,” said Munson-Williams President and CEO Anna D’Ambrosio.

Griffith’s served as a trustee for 14-years between 1997 through 2018, including a seven-year required hiatus. He served as board chair from December 2003 through December 2006 and two terms as vice chairman. As a trustee, he worked with the executive, governance, nominating, and finance committees and chaired the Pratt task force committee and the Inspire! capital campaign. “Rick provided outstanding leadership and valuable advice,” D’Ambrosio said. “At events and openings, his thoughtful comments and kind words were always deeply appreciated by the staff.”
