MVCC to offer accelerated summer classes for Oneida, Madison County
high school students on the Rome Campus
Mohawk Valley Community College is offering courses this summer on the newly renovated Rome Campus for rising juniors and seniors in Oneida and Madison county high schools that will accelerate their entry into the cyber-security, information technology, and hospitality fields.
Through the College Connection scholarship program, high school students who are recommended by their guidance counselors may take these courses and will only be financially responsible for associated fees and course-related materials. Students who complete the courses will receive college credit.
The five-week Cyber Accelerator Bridge Program is scheduled for 9 a.m. to noon on Tuesdays through Thursdays, July 11-Aug. 5. It will cover basic networking, assessing and handling of security risks, hardware components, and basic computer troubleshooting. The course is designed for high school students who have basic computing skills and are seeking broader knowledge in the field.
Two hospitality courses also will be offered for individuals interested in pursuing careers in front office management, hotel food and beverage management, or housekeeping management. Introduction to Hospitality Industry will be from 10:15 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. and Safety and Sanitation will be from 12:30 to 2:25 p.m. Both courses will run on Monday through Thursday, from July 10-Aug. 11.
