The Mohawk Valley Community College Strategic Gaming Club is participating in its 12th year of Extra Life, a 24-hour gaming marathon to raise money for the Children’s Miracle Network and Mohawk Valley Health System Foundation, from 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8, to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, at MVCC’s Utica Campus.
The public is invited to join the fun from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday in the Wilcox Hall Lobby and in Wilcox Hall room 225. A variety of games, including board games and video games, will be available for visitors to try out or jump right in and play. The club also will hold a raffle for a $50 Amazon gift card and other smaller prizes; winners will be drawn at the conclusion of the event. There also will be special Extra Life fundraiser mini-events throughout the weekend:
- Super Smash Bros. Tournament: 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8. Entry fee is $5 with $3 upgrade to choose your character. Prizes will be awarded for first and second place.
- “Star Wars” Trivia: 6:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8. Teams of up to four people can participate for $20. First-place prize is a set of pint glasses etched with “Star Wars” figures and free tickets to the Stage Time Trivia/Feed Our Vets Music Bingo fundraiser on Nov. 9.
- Magic: The Gathering Commander Tournament: 8:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8. Entry fee is $10; prizes awarded for first and second place.
- Magic: The Gathering Draft: 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9. Draft will be from Foundations. Drafting begins at 10 a.m. with tournament to follow. Entry fee is $15; prizes awarded for first and second place.
