The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) has granted Mohawk Valley Community College’s Nursing associate degree program continuing accreditation until Spring 2021.

Under the new leadership of Associate Dean of Health Professions Lisa Cooley, who joined the College in Fall 2016, the Nursing program is now on track to meet the NYS average NCLEX pass rate of 82 percent.

ACEN is the entity that is responsible for the specialized accreditation of college nursing programs. Institutions with associate degree programs are judged based on six standards: Mission and Administrative Capacity; Faculty and Staff; Students; Curriculum; Resources; and Outcomes.

MVCC’s Nursing program was established in 1965, making it one of the first associate degree nursing programs in New York. MVCC’s initial accreditation was granted in 1970 by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC), and the College has maintained accreditation ever since.
