The Mohawk Valley Community College Drama Club will present a special production of Jeffrey Hatcher’s “Scotland Road” at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday–Friday, April 18-20, in Schafer Theater, Information Technology Building, at the College’s Utica Campus, 1101 Sherman Drive. The format of the seating is a bit more intimate than usual — a “modified three-quarter” stage setup, giving audience members a more immersive theater experience. Seating is very limited. Admission is $5 general, $2 for MVCC employees, and free for MVCC students.
“Scotland Road” takes place in the last decade of the 20th century, when a beautiful young woman in 19th-century clothing is found floating on an iceberg in the middle of the North Atlantic. When rescued, she says only one word: “Titanic.” The woman, Winifred, is taken to an isolated spot on the coast of Maine where an expert on the sinking of the liner, a mysterious man named John, has arranged to interrogate her for six days. His goal: to crack her story, get her to confess she’s a fake, and reveal her true identity; his one clue: her enigmatic references to an unknown place called “Scotland Road.” Produced by special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service, Inc.
