MVCC Colorful Girls Rock Symposium November 16

Patricia Washington, coordinator for the college in Prison New Directions was the panel moderator. Panelists included Sergeant Starr Rae Wooden, Utica Police Department, Cassandra Harris-Lockwood, President and CEO of For The Good, Inc and Editor-in-Chief Utica Phoenix, Khadijah Blackshear, MVCC student, Amea Hammonds, MVCC student and Kalyn Credle, MVCC Resident Director of Academic Success.  The Expression Dance Club opened with a performance.

” The purpose of the Symposium was to bring a diverse mixture of people together to discuss stereotypes of women in education and society’s perception of women. It is imperative that women and women of color see a positive representation of people that look like them, ” stated Patricia Washington.
