Munson to hold First Friday Latin dance party May 1

Utica, N.Y. — Kick off your weekend with an upbeat evening of music and movement Munson’s First Friday Latin Dance Party from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 1, in the Museum’s Root Court. Enjoy a welcoming, bilingual atmosphere, and come dressed to dance. Tickets are $5 for Munson Members and $10 for the general public and are available at munson.art/first-friday-latin-dance-party.

DJ Richy will keep the energy high while Hilda M. Jordan and Brandon Long, in collaboration with Mohawk Valley Latino Association, lead lively, beginner-friendly instruction in merengue, bachata, and salsa with plenty of fun for experienced dancers as well. Part of Baile y Cultura, this event invites you to move, learn, and celebrate together—whether it’s your first step or your favorite rhythm. Light food and a cash bar will be available.“First Friday’s Latin Dance Party is all about energy, connection, and having a great time—whether you’re stepping onto the dance floor for the first time or already know your way around,” said Bob Mortis, Munson director of Performing Arts. “With a welcoming, bilingual atmosphere and instructors guiding the way, it’s an easy, fun way for everyone to jump in, learn a few moves, and enjoy the music together.”
