The Queen has her crown, and Wednesday’s Dynamite gave wrestling fans plenty to talk about before the coffee was ready. Queen Aminata defeated Persephone for the TBS Championship in the closing match of AEW’s October 28 Fright Night special at Chaifetz Arena in St. Louis. AEW’s official recap confirms the title change. For the latest updates, check out the AEW Dynamite results.
The Morning Bell take: This was a strong night of wrestling with a finish worth celebrating. A championship win means more when the audience gets a reason to care about the wrestler holding the belt. Aminata’s moment supplied that emotional center. Here is the complete result sheet, a closer look at the matches and a guide to the woman behind the Queen.
Fright Night Dynamite: all six results
| Match | Result | Stakes |
|---|---|---|
| Jay White and David Finlay vs. Jon Moxley and Daniel Garcia | White and Finlay won | Faction rivalry |
| Kyle Fletcher vs. Jack Perry | Fletcher won | Singles match |
| Motor City Machine Guns vs. FTR | Machine Guns won | Best-of-five series, match three |
| Marina Shafir vs. Rachel Armstrong | Shafir won by submission | Singles match |
| Darby Allin vs. Josh Alexander | Allin retained | TNT Championship |
| Persephone vs. Queen Aminata | Aminata won the title | TBS Championship |
The six results are corroborated by Slam Wrestling’s result roundup.
Queen Aminata defeats Persephone: the night’s defining moment
Persephone concentrated on Aminata’s neck, while Britt Baker made the challenger’s task harder from ringside. Aminata fought through the champion’s offense and Baker’s interference rather than winning an uncomplicated sprint. The decisive escape came after Baker struck her with the championship belt: Persephone followed with a moonsault, but Aminata kicked out. A headbutt and Off With Her Head finally put the champion down for three. Source: AEW.
Earlier, Aminata had blocked a springboard moonsault with her knees and kept pursuing Persephone outside the ring. Baker also prevented an earlier opportunity to cover after Off With Her Head. That made the eventual finish a payoff to repeated obstacles, not merely a surprise result. PWMania’s detailed account traces those exchanges.
Analysis: The finish worked because it allowed Aminata to overcome the shortcut. The belt shot was not the ending; her refusal to stay down was. Letting that victory close the show gave the new champion room to be the story, instead of turning her breakthrough immediately into somebody else’s angle.
Darby Allin survives Josh Alexander to keep the TNT title
Alexander made this a punishing defense. He attacked Allin’s leg and used the ringside environment to slow the champion, while Allin answered with the kind of reckless counterattacks that make his matches feel precarious. Allin applied the Scorpion Deathlock and landed a Coffin Drop with Alexander caught near the ropes. Alexander still found his way back to the ankle lock. Wrestling Inc.’s live report documents the exchanges.
The outside threat mattered, too. Steven Borden, wearing a clown mask, intervened against Trent Beretta as the Don Callis Family tried to influence the finish. Allin converted Alexander’s ankle lock into a pinning combination and retained. Slam Wrestling confirms the finish.
Analysis: This was survival rather than dominance. A sudden pin preserved the danger of Alexander’s submission without requiring Allin to overpower him. Borden’s involvement also connected the title defense to the larger fight with Callis’ group.
Machine Guns beat FTR and move one win from the series
Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley took a 2-1 lead over Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler in their best-of-five rivalry. FTR combined a superplex and top-rope splash for a near fall, but the Machine Guns answered with FTR’s own Shatter Machine. Cash broke up another close cover. Shelley eventually turned a pinning exchange into the winning three-count.
The apparent sportsmanship afterward did not last. Stokely Hathaway threw powder, FTR attacked, and Shelley’s knee became the target. The standings say the Machine Guns need one more win; the post-match angle gave the next encounter an additional problem beyond winning another exchange. Source: Wade Keller’s PWTorch report.
Kyle Fletcher beats Jack Perry, then calls for Ospreay
Perry’s speed repeatedly frustrated Fletcher. He found openings with an apron hurricanrana and a moonsault, while Fletcher answered with power, including a powerbomb against the apron. Perry threatened with the Snare Trap, but Fletcher reached the ropes. The finish came after Fletcher caught Perry’s aerial attack with a kick and delivered a brainbuster from the ropes. Source: Wrestling Inc.
Fletcher then challenged Will Ospreay, and AEW made their World Championship match official for Full Gear. That is an announced future match, not a title change. AEW confirms the booking.
Analysis: A challenger is more persuasive after having to solve a difficult opponent. Perry’s resistance gave Fletcher something to overcome before he made his championship demand.
The Cut wins the opener; Shafir wins quickly
Jay White and David Finlay defeated Jon Moxley and Daniel Garcia after Clark Connors interfered. Connors’ spear created the opening for White’s Blade Runner on Garcia. Moxley subsequently challenged The Cut to Anarchy in the Arena at Full Gear on November 14. Source: Slam Wrestling.
Marina Shafir dispatched Rachel Armstrong with Mother’s Milk, then confronted Mercedes Moné. Moné’s slaps did not intimidate Shafir. Source: Wrestling Inc. The subsequent faction fight ended with White delivering a Blade Runner to Claudio Castagnoli on exposed concrete. This was a televised storyline attack, not confirmation of a real-world medical diagnosis. Source: AEW.
Promos and confrontations: Swerve raises the stakes
Austin Creed and Kofi questioned Swerve Strickland’s proposed Texas Death stipulation for their trios rivalry. Brody King and Hangman Page wanted answers about Bandido. The screen then revealed Swerve standing over a bloodied Bandido with his mask; Creed and Kofi denied knowing about it. Treat this as wrestling’s on-screen story, not an independently reported criminal incident.
Tommaso Ciampa, meanwhile, continued complaining about his WrestleDream loss and his pursuit of the National Championship. Ilja Dragunov challenged him to fight, but Ciampa declined. These segments advanced conflicts without delivering another match result. Source: Features of Wrestling.
Borden later reiterated his commitment to the Blood and Guts fight alongside Allin and their allies. PWTorch’s report records his backstage statement.

Meet Queen Aminata: the journey behind the crown
For fans meeting the new TBS champion for the first time, here is the essential distinction: Aminata is a new titleholder, not a newcomer.
Born and raised in Guinea in West Africa, she has made her heritage part of her wrestling identity. In her March 2024 appearance on AEW Unrestricted, she discussed using her entrance, cape and voice to introduce audiences to her culture. Fightful’s interview transcription records her explanation of why that representation matters to her.
Her career began on the independent circuit in 2017 and included experience in Japan. A contemporary Diva Dirt profile documents work with SHIMMER and RISE, training under Chigusa Nagayo, and appearances with Marvelous and Sendai Girls. It is a résumé built across different wrestling environments, not solely on American television.
Aminata first appeared in AEW in 2021. Her momentum accelerated in February 2024 when she defeated Anna Jay on Rampage and Tony Khan publicly announced that she was officially All Elite. That announcement should not be confused with her first appearance in the company. AEW’s match report and Wrestling Observer’s announcement coverage establish that milestone.
Ring of Honor gave her two important championship tests that year. At Supercard of Honor on April 5, 2024, she reached the tournament final to crown the inaugural ROH Women’s World Television champion. Billie Starkz won after feigning injury and catching Aminata in a submission. Aminata was a finalist, not a former holder of that championship. Source: official ROH results.
At Death Before Dishonor on July 26, 2024, she challenged Athena for the ROH Women’s World Championship. Athena retained after using a microphone while the referee was distracted. Again, it was a major title opportunity rather than a title reign. Source: official ROH results.
Those earlier tests help explain why this breakthrough deserves more than a line in a results list. For readers discovering Aminata now, the backstory includes independent work, international experience and championship disappointments before Wednesday’s success.
The final bell
Column opinion: The best part of this show was its range. Technical counters, tag-team combinations, faction conflict and a meaningful championship celebration all had room. There was enough forward movement to make the next show important without making this one feel disposable.
Aminata should remain the headline. The next challenge is to make the reign feel as substantial as the moment that started it. A champion needs more than a celebration: she needs opponents, time and stories that let fans understand what makes her different. Wednesday supplied an excellent starting point.
