In this episode of Hot Seat: Media Monday, Ace Morreal, founder of the Oneida County Pride Association, discusses issues involving the identities of people within the LGBTQIA+ Community and the upcoming LGBTQIA+ Tales: Stories of Resilience and Remembrance, which will take place Friday, November 16th at 6:30 at the Tramontane Cafe (“The Tram”) and the Intersex and Transgender Day of Remembrance which will take Saturday, November 17th at Connected Community Schools in Rome.
“We’re all in the same boat together, and developing all these different labels just allowed us to express ourselves, but we’re still one community.” Ace explained how this weekend’s events will provide an opportunity to “gather together to remember as a community [the] individual stories that help uplift us at times [and remind us] there is resilience, there is movement forward.”
Then, Dawn LaGuerre and Hawa Peters tell listeners about On Point for College. This organization helps first-generation youth get into college, succeed academically, and pursue careers afterward. The organization will have its first in-person celebration dinner since before the COVID pandemic on Thursday, November 14, 2025, at 5:30 pm at Hart’s Hill Inn.
