On Thursday May 1st, Citizen Action of New York joined workers, families and community members in Utica to rally together to stand against the billionaire-led attacks on our rights, our unions, and our dignity. This May Day, we are standing united to reclaim our power and fight for a world where every family has access to housing, healthcare, fair wages, union protection, and safety—no matter their race, zip code, or immigration status. This May Day Strong event was one of over 1,000 events held across over 800 cities across the country.
“I see every day how hard-working people in our community are struggling—rents are going up, jobs don’t pay enough, and families are being forced to make impossible choices. Meanwhile, billionaires keep getting richer by taking more from the rest of us,” said John Furman, Board Member at Citizen Action of New York. “I’m standing with my neighbors to say: we’ve had enough. We deserve to live in a city where every family has a safe place to call home, access to health care, the protection of a union, and the ability to thrive—not just survive. This fight is personal, and we’re not going to sit back while the wealthy try to strip away our rights and our dignity.”
