Nu Psi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha held a fundraising party on Saturday, February, 11, 2017 at the Radisson Hotel with 100 people in attendance.  The Mardi Gras themed event featured music by DJ BIGBOY, delicious food, cash bar, lots of dancing, and a 50/50 raffle.

This sorority is dedicated to activities that promote literacy and education in the Utica-Rome public school system.  Over the past year, Alpha Kappa Alpha donated hundreds of dollar’s worth of food to the Central New York Veterans’ Outreach Program and donated candy to Cornhill’s organized Halloween event.  The chapter also, donated book bags, stuffed with school supplies, and a playground bench to Watson-Williams Elementary School.

The event raised over $1,500 for local college scholarships and ongoing community service programs.  Many social service providers, clinicians, local community groups and members at large made this event a rousing success.
