Mohawk Valley Community College has announced the lineup of events for the Fall 2022 semester, which will include a performance by comedian Jay Pharoah, an “American Idol” Winners Songwriting Showcase, and An Evening with Actor Leslie David Baker of “The Office.” Tickets for all events go on sale at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 22, at www.mvcc.edu/tickets.
Actor and stand-up comedian Jay Pharoah will perform at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29, in the Jorgensen Athletic/Event Center Field House at MVCC’s Utica Campus. Tickets are $25 general, $15 for MVCC employees, and free for MVCC students. Pharoah spent six seasons as a cast member of NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” and is well-known for uncanny impressions of celebrities like President Barack Obama, Will Smith, Denzel Washington, Stephen A. Smith, Kanye West, and Chris Tucker. In film, Pharoah has appeared in Steven Soderbergh’s “Unsane” and “2 Minutes of Fame,” and had supporting roles in “Get a Job,” “Top Five,” “Ride Along,” “Intramural,” and “Lola Versus.” In television, he has starred in the Showtime series “White Famous” and has voiced roles in several animated series, including “Family Guy,” “BoJack Horseman,” and “SuperMansion.” This performance is for mature audiences only.
Actor Leslie David Baker, best known for his role as Stanley Hudson in the U.S. remake of “The Office,” will take part in a moderated conversation with comedian Charlie Nadler at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4, in Schafer Theater at MVCC’s Utica Campus. Tickets are $20 general, $15 for MVCC employees, and free for MVCC students. Since the end of “The Office,” Baker has appeared in films such as “The Happytime Murders” and “Vivo.” He also had a recurring role in the CMT series “Still the King” and played a recurring character in the NFL Sunday short sketch series “Riggle’s Picks.”
Three “American Idol” winners will perform a Songwriters Round Concert at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23, in Schafer Theater at MVCC’s Utica Campus. Tickets are $20 general, $15 for MVCC employees, and free for MVCC students. The concert will feature “American Idol” winners Maddie Poppe, Season 16 (2017), Trent Harmon, Season 15 (2016), and Nick Fradiani, Season 14 (2015).
