Romance and comedy abound on stage

ILION – The Ilion Little Theatre is proud to announce its 2017-2018 Season of productions, beginning this Fall and running through Spring 2018.

Play On!October 6, 7, 13, and 14 at 7:30 p.m.; October 8, 15 at 2 p.m.

The hilarious story of a theater group trying desperately to put on a play in spite of maddening interference from a haughty author who keeps revising the script. Written by Rick Abbot, Directed by Stephen Wagner

The Christmas SpiritDecember 1, 2, 8 and 9 at 7:30 p.m.; December 3, 10 at 2 p.m.

Julia Dowling has an unexpected visitor who intends to escort her off to the afterlife.  Infusing comedy into the classic Death Takes a Holiday, The Christmas Spirit is set in contemporary Long Island.  Julia persuades Death to give her one more day to enjoy Christmas and invites him to be her guest at a festive party. Written by Frederick Stroppel, Directed by Charlene Lyon

 Last Chance RomanceFebruary 2, 3, 9, and 10 at 7:30 p.m.; February 4, 11 at 2 p.m.

Myra Witzer, a strong willed woman in her late thirties, though desperatly in search of love and marriage, changes her mind about commitment after marrying Leonard, an unassuming man in his forties. Now that he’s fallen for her, will Leonard be able to convince her that he’s her prince charming? Written by Sam Bobrick, Directed by Suzanne Rodio

 

A Bad Year for TomatoesApril 6, 7, 13 and 14 at 7:30 p.m.; April 8, 15 at 2 p.m.

Fed up with the pressures and demands of her acting career, the famous Myra Marlowe leases a house in the tiny New England hamlet of Beaver Haven and settles down to write her autobiography. She is successful in turning aside the offers pressed on her by her long-time agent, but dealing with her nosy, omnipresent neighbors is a different matter. In an attempt to shoo them away, and gain some privacy, Myra invents a mad, homicidal sister—who is kept locked in an upstairs room, but who occasionally escapes long enough to scare off uninvited visitors. Written by John Patrick, Directed by Rick Vroman

 

General Admission to all performances is $12 with a reduced rate of $8 for student with valid ID.
