Child care is extremely unaffordable and out of reach for too many families. For low-income families, child care expenses for children under five can eat up 35 percent of their income or more. It’s time to rebuild our child care system into one that actually works.
I encourage folks to join me in researching how our current elected leaders have voted on child care. I’ll personally be supporting John Mannion who has consistently supported state legislation designed to make child care affordable for more families and increase wages for child care providers, while Brandon Williams has voted consistently against key federal child care legislation.
Our communities are stronger when all children are well cared for. We have a responsibility to the next generation to make sure they’re given the care they need to thrive. I hope you’ll join me in voting for candidates who care about our kids and economy on Nov. 5.
