Greetings:
We are facing a housing crisis. Rental prices are soaring. Affordability is worse than ever before. Our area continues to lose low-cost rental housing. Many of our multi-family have serious challenges like broken elevators, mold, and lack of maintenance. Homelessness and housing stability are rising. Childhood lead poisoning and lack of codes enforcement are major problems.
This coming Wednesday evening, please join us in an important workshop in Utica to address the growing housing crisis. Information will be provided on tenant rights and how renters can organize to win decent and affordable housing.
Advocates will discuss pending legislation like good cause eviction, right to counsel, social housing, and Housing Access vouchers which will help New Yorkers to keep and secure affordable housing. We will show how renters can organize tenant associations to advocate for better housing.
The workshop will be held between 6-7:30 pm on Wed., April 3. at the Midtown Utica Community Center, 43 Faxton Street, Utica, NY 13501. It will be free and open to the public. There will be refreshments. Rides are available by calling 315.601.9141.
The workshop is co-sponsored by Citizen Action and Legal Services of Central New York.
