Generous Donation from Northern Safety & Industrial Now Benefiting Community
Utica, NY, March 26, 2019 – YWCA Mohawk Valley (YWCA MV) was the recipient of a generous donation by Julie’s Christmas Wishes Program. This initiative was founded by a group of employees at Northern Safety and Industrial (NSI) in honor of Julie Fatata, an employee who loved giving back to her community and lost her battle with cancer a few years ago.
The program committee spent months collecting donations and hosting fundraisers like bake sales and basket raffles, as well as selling Christmas ornaments in Julie’s memory. In
December, the program committee members hand-delivered their donation which included
cleaning products, personal care items, bedding, pajamas, socks, slippers, diapers, baby
wipes, and a variety of gift cards. Their generosity also included a number of laptops and a
$1,000 check.
The donation is now being put to good use in YWCA MV’s emergency shelter and safe dwelling, providing a comfortable and safe standard of living for each resident.
“It was a true pleasure to do this in Julie’s memory,” said the committee members. “She
continues to be our role model for giving back to our community. Her generosity and caring
ways will always inspire us to carry on her memories through Julie’s Christmas Wishes
Program.”
YWCA MV is honored to have been the beneficiary of Julie’s Christmas Wishes Program in 2018. The generosity of NSI has gone a long way in helping the agency serve their clients, especially including the women and children in their housing programs.
YWCA MV offers free and confidential domestic and sexual violence crisis services 24-hours.
