About 1 in 68 children today are diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, a lifelong condition affecting social and communication skills and characterized by obsessive interests and repetitive behaviors. It is estimated that 50,000 teens age out of school-based autism services each year, highlighting the need for individualized supports and services such as those provided by The Kelberman Center. Beginning with a specialized preschool more than 20 years ago, today the Kelberman Center serves about 500 local families.
