Increased patrols on roadways for Labor Day weekend

STOP DWI Crackdown’s grant money has more law enforcement on the roads this holiday weekend.

The STOP DWI Labor Day Enforcement Crackdown is a national and statewide enforcement program. Research shows it can reduce drunk driving fatalities by as much as 20%. Sobriety check points and roving patrols will play a major part this weekend.

“Last year over 10,000 people lost their life in crashes involving impaired driver,” Sgt. Jon Seeber, Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office public information officer, said. “Drink driving or drugged driving, they’re both bad choices. This Labor Day holiday weekend, keep yourself and others safe on the road by planning ahead. Choose your ride. Just don’t let it be with us.”

The crackdown will be a joint effort between New York State Police, Onondaga County Sheriff’s and local law enforcement agencies.
