Hot Seat: Media Monday S2:E47: Spencer K, DJ Roscoe Red, United Way & Stella Explores CNY
DJ Roscoe Red joins Ron Klopfanstein as celebrity co-host for an hour highlighting music, community and some of the people making things happen across Central New York.
The episode begins with Klopfanstein’s feature on 14-year-old musician Spencer K, who recently released his self-titled debut album. Spencer talks about his dark cabaret sound, the literary and cinematic influences behind his music, and how he wrote, performed, mixed and mastered the 14-track album himself.
Then DJ Roscoe Red — Kris Majka — joins Klopfanstein in the studio. Roscoe talks about the story behind his name, developing his onstage persona, building his DJ business and learning how to read a crowd.
In Segment 2, Christine Perez and Haley Edick from United Way of the Mohawk Valley join Klopfanstein and Roscoe to discuss The United Games, happening Saturday, August 22, at F.T. Proctor Park in Utica. They also discuss United Way’s work throughout the Mohawk Valley, including 211 and the organization’s role connecting people with community resources.
The final segment features Nate Olsen of Stella Explores CNY — along with Stella herself. Olsen discusses exploring Central New York with his service dog, accessibility, inclusion and his effort to highlight welcoming places, interesting people and experiences throughout the region.
