Sarah Macri and Jack Pflanz from the United Way of the Mohawk Valley
In this episode of the Hot Seat: Media Monday, Sarah Macri, Director of Strategic Impact and Jack Pflanz, Director of Development and Commmunications for the United Way of the Mohawk Valley discuss the 211 program and how it helps the people and organizations their agency serves.
“It’s an information and referral service you can literally call for any need from employment services, educational services, legal services, any human service need that you have questions about,” Macri said explaining how the 211 program works.
Jack Pflanz, Director of Development and Communications talked about the many types of information the United Way of the Mohawk Valley’s 211 program provides. “Any need at all from housing and food, to a new bank, new insurance broker…veternarian, if you need a doctor…” he said the 211 program can offer information.”
“Making an impact whether small or large is the goal,” Sarah Macri said. “If you can’t help someone with an eviction but you can help them get them clothes or get them access to food or clean water. If you can address other needs even if you can’t address the immediate one that’s what’s important one small thing or one person believing in somebody else can go a long way.”
