As a kick-ff to its 200th anniversary, the choir of Historic Old St. John’s Church, under the direction of organist Angela Bonomo Nassar, will present a free concert in the church on Monday, June 11 at 6:00 p.m.  The music chosen will span several centuries from Gregorian Chant to “A Gift of Peace and Joy” written by local composer Dr. Louis Angelini.

The Hallelujah Chorus from Beethoven’s “Mount of Olives”,  “Amazing Grace”, and St. John’s signature song,  “The Battle Hymn of the Republic”, among others, will also be performed.  The 45-minute concert will be held in the church, 240 Bleecker St., Utica.

Rev. John A. Buehler, Pastor, said that other bicentennial events include a golf tournament and dinner at Twin Ponds  Golf and Country Club on June 21; tours of the church in conjunction with the Landmarks Society of Greater Utica at 6 p.m., July 9; and a parish bazaar, Sept. 8 and 9.  The concluding bicentennial event on Nov. 4,  will be a Celebratory Mass at 1 p.m. with Bishop Robert J.
