Hamilton College Presents Mantra Percussion on April 5

Clinton, NY – Hamilton College Performing Arts presents opens the fall 2025 performing arts series with the early music ensemble The Sebastians on Friday, September 19 at 7:30 pm in Wellin Hall, Schambach Center.

The Sebastians are a dynamic and vital musical ensemble specializing in music of the baroque and classical eras. The Sebastians’ recent seasons have included dozens of originally conceived programs, including collaborations with poets, choreographers, dancers, and actors; a musical installation in the Cathedral of St. John the Divine; programs dealing with musical “immigration” and nationalism; and major works of J.S. Bach led from the keyboard.

The Hamilton College program, titled Inner Riches, focuses on the lesser-known earlier works of the Baroque period. Before Bach, a generation of German composers was creating music of startling depth, richness, and beauty—music that rarely makes it to the stage today. Featuring works by Rosenmüller, Biber, Schmelzer, and Erlebach, this concert dives into the darker, sweeter side of the baroque, where glorious five-part string textures shine with clarity and warmth.

Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for senior citizens and $5 for students. For more information, call the box office at (315) 859-4331 or visit http://www.hamilton.edu/performingarts. This performance is funded in part by the New York State Council on the Arts.
