Innovation is woven into the fabric of American culture, most notably in the creation of popular music. Beginning in the early 1900’s, the melting pot that is America, linked with technological advancements, enabled the development of new styles in rapid succession. Ragtime, blues, jazz, country, rock & roll, R&B, and hip hop all claim America authorship. These genres have now been embraced and enhanced by musicians in every corner of the globe. Monk Rowe, John Hutson, and Tom McGrath will perform popular songs from 8 decades of American music and link to examples of their global progeny.
