Griffo statement on governor’s ‘no tax on tips’ proposal

“I am pleased that the governor has finally heeded our calls and is embracing this concept, although it is most likely because she has to face voters this year.

With so many struggling financially, eliminating state income taxes on tips would allow more New Yorkers to keep more of their hard-earned money in their own pockets.

I advocated for this last year and am supportive of legislation (S.587) that would help to accomplish this objective outside of the budget, as well as a bill (S.3914) that would eliminate state income taxes on overtime pay.

I remain committed to improving affordability, creating more economic opportunities and building a more prosperous New York.”
