GOVERNOR HOCHUL ANNOUNCES 16 NEW #VAXTOSCHOOL SITES

• 235 Sites Established Statewide – Nearly Double the Goal – Including 98 Events at Local Schools over the Program’s 12-Week Period

 Governor Kathy Hochul today announced 16 new #VaxtoSchool pop-up vaccination sites—including 6 sites open to children five years and older—as the State reaches its final week of #VaxtoSchool programming, which concludes on Dec. 14. Governor Hochul and the State’s Department of Health urge all eligible New Yorkers, including and especially young New Yorkers, to get fully vaccinated as soon as possible. 

“Our #VaxtoSchool program has helped New York students and their families get vaccinated and has been critical to making sure our schools stay open,” Governor Hochul said. “We thank the localities and community organizations on-the-ground who worked with us to administer tens of thousands of vaccine doses to school communities statewide. Parents and guardians: visit a #VaxtoSchool site this week to make sure your child is fully vaccinated against COVID-19.” 

Building on the State’s commitment to making the health and well-being of students, teachers, and families a top priority, on September 21, Governor Hochul announced a total of 120 sites will take place over a 12-week period statewide. At the conclusion of the 12 weeks, 235 sites have been established — far surpassing this goal. Events were hosted at 98 schools and reached 36 counties statewide, spanning every region of the state. As of Dec. 8, 70% of 12-17-year-old’s and 20% of five-11-year-olds have received at least one vaccine dose. Operational days for each of the #VaxtoSchool pop-up vaccination sites for school-aged New Yorkers are below. A community-based medical professional will be available at each site to answer any questions parents and guardians of school-aged New Yorkers may have. As yet another tool to promote the vaccine, #VaxtoSchool buses — mobile vaccination efforts — continue to support these efforts statewide. The full list of #VaxtoSchool sites is available here.
