Theology Uncorked Welcomes Rev. James J. Koury, M.T.S.
This month, Theology Uncorked welcomes Rev. James J. Koury, M.T.S., who will present “The Eastern Catholic Churches; an Overview.” This engaging talk will offer a foundational understanding of who the Eastern Catholic Churches are, why they exist, and how they compare and contrast with their Orthodox Church counterparts.
Ordained a priest in June 1992, Fr. Jim has served parishes in the eparchies of Newton and Passaic while also teaching theology and music at both the elementary and secondary levels. In March 2023, he was appointed pastor of St. Basil the Great Melkite Greek Catholic Church in Utica. Fr. Jim is also a bi-ritual priest with the Roman (Latin) Church, allowing him to celebrate the sacraments in both the Byzantine and Roman rites.
A Space for Open Dialogue
Theology Uncorked was created to foster genuine conversation in a casual, judgment-free setting. Each evening encourages participants to:
• Reconnect or explore their faith
• Engage respectfully with people of different beliefs
• Ask tough questions and share personal insights
• Build community through shared curiosity and connection
