Garden Composting Workshop Held on August 29th

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Oswego County (CCE Oswego) will be hosting a composting workshop on Saturday, August 29th from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Lazy Dirt Wildflower Farm in Mexico, NY. This workshop will help provide a general overview of composting for homeowners and backyard gardeners.

Morgan Cooper, Master Gardener Volunteer for CCE Oswego, will discuss what happens during the composting process and the amazing benefits that occur when we recycle nutrients back into our gardens, lawns and home landscapes. She will also go over specific practices and tools needed to be successful. Cooper will discuss the differences between active verses passive composting, and how the right mix can eliminate smells. Afterwards, Melanie Cutillo, fellow Master Gardener Volunteer and owner of Lazy Dirt Wildflower Farm, will provide a tour of her native plant nursery, and discuss how she has tried to incorporate composting in her own life. There will be plenty of time for questions.

This program is sponsored by the CCE Oswego Master Gardener Volunteer Program. The workshop is free to attend, but pre-registration is required.
