Florida Woman Charged with Attempted Murder After Running Over Estranged Husband’s Girlfriend
A 41-year-old Florida woman faces attempted murder charges after allegedly using her vehicle to strike her estranged husband’s girlfriend in Polk County.
Christdon Reese was arrested after authorities say she spotted her estranged husband walking with his girlfriend near a Circle K gas station in Auburndale on April 10, 2025. According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, Reese made a U-turn in a nearby parking lot, accelerated toward the couple, and deliberately struck the woman with her white Volkswagen Jetta before fleeing the scene.
The victim suffered two spinal fractures but is expected to recover, officials said. Reese was apprehended the following day and charged with attempted first-degree murder, trespassing, and violation of probation from a previous retail theft conviction.
Legal Consequences
Surveillance footage from the gas station captured the incident, which prosecutors may use as evidence of premeditation. Under Florida law, attempted first-degree murder is a capital felony that could result in life imprisonment if Reese is convicted.
Reese was already on probation for a 2023 retail theft conviction in Osceola County at the time of the incident, which led to the additional probation violation charge.
Sheriff’s Response
Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd addressed the incident in a statement, emphasizing the dangers of allowing emotions to escalate in domestic disputes.
“Christdon Reese needs to learn how to control her temper,” Sheriff Judd said. “Take a deep breath, call your lawyer, call your mama, or call your preacher instead of resorting to violence.”
The case highlights how domestic disputes can quickly escalate to violence when emotions override rational decision-making, authorities noted.
