Here’s this week’s CNY high school football roundup.
F-M pulled out a 21-20 win in hostile territory at West Genesee. The student section was raucous for this meeting between the rivals.
One of the crazier plays of the evening occurred in the first quarter, when F-M’s field goal attempt was blocked, but George LaCombe recovered it and took it in for the score.
Over at Skaneateles, the Lakers were trailing for the first time this season. Southern Hills came in and scored on their first drive, but the Lakers quickly answered.
Those points were the first points that Skane had given up all season. Their defense went back to its dominant ways shortly after, leading to a big win, 49-18.
In Class B, there was a big meeting between 2-2 Westhill and 1-2 Marcellus on the Mustangs’ home turf. The teams held a scoreless tie until midway through the second quarter, when a turnover by Tyler Herr turned into points for the home team.
Marcellus never looked back after that first strike, blanking the Warriors, 21-0.
In other scores:
Corcoran 3 Baldwinsville 0
CBA 41 ESM 19
New Hartford 28 Oneida 13
