Exercise Your Right to Vote: Letter to the Editor

Exercise Your Right to Vote

We all agree that the right to vote is central to our constitutional system. Don’t miss your chance to vote in the Democratic Primary later this month. Vote for your nominee of choice. No matter who wins the official nomination, we will support that candidate; send them to Congress in November.

  • Election day is Tuesday, June 25th. Polls are open from 6am to 9pm.
  • Early voting starts Saturday, June 15th, and ends Sunday, June 23rd. Your early voting location is on the county’s Board of Elections website.
  • Any registered voter may apply for an absentee ballot. You must request an absentee ballot by June 15. Your completed ballot must be delivered to an early voting polling location or postmarked no later than June 25th.
  • New York is a closed primary state; to vote in a party’s primary election you must be a registered member of that party.
  • June 15th is the “golden day.” Anyone can register as a Democrat  at an early voting site to vote for the first time and cast their vote in the primary on what’s called an affidavit ballot. You’ll need your social security number or driver’s license number to register for the first time.

As New Yorkers we value our freedoms. Vote on or before June 25th for the nominee that supports your values. Be sure your voice is heard.
