Dominican Consulate in NY to bring consulate services to Utica

The event will take place this Saturday, February 5 on 1214 Lincoln Ave from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.

UTICA, NY — The Mohawk Valley Latino Association, Inc. has partnered with the Consulate of the Dominican Republic in New York to bring services that are provided at the consular headquarters to Dominican citizens living in the Mohawk Valley.

Among the services that will be offered are the issuance and renewal of passports, affidavits, apostilles, route letter, notarial acts and the procedural documents to acquire Dominican citizenship that are constitutionally guaranteed to the children of Dominicans born abroad, who only have to formalize the petition.

Together with the staff of the Consulate, a team of staff from the Central Electoral Board will participate, where ID services, birth and marriage certificates will be offered.

Elvin Tineo, director of the Department of Mobile Operations of the consulate, said he expects a large participation in the mobile consulate that will be held to help Dominican citizens save time, money and avoid missing work to get to Manhattan where the consular headquarters are located. He reported that the Central Electoral Board (JCE) will also offer its ID services, birth certificates, marriage and other documents of the Dominican civil registry.

“To bring these consulate services to the Dominican population in Upstate

New York has been one of the goals of MVLA since the Dominican community is growing everyday and gives so much to our area,” said Sonia Martinez, Executive Director of MVLA.
