Community Events to Stop Violence and Address Mass Incarceration


Student and community groups are planning rallies and marches against mass shootings in Utica, Rome, and Syracuse on March 24. March for Our Lives,” organized by survivors of the recent school massacre in Parkland, Fla., will have its major rally in Washington D.C. as well as “sister marches” in other major cities.

Stories of Mass Incarceration Explained March 7, 5 – 7 p.m. Central New York Citizen Action, 40 Faxton Street, Utica. We will be sharing stories of people who have formerly been incarcerated or whose loved ones are incarcerated. Please join us to discuss how jail injustice impacts our communities, hear from #FREEnewyork campaign leaders who have been directly impacted by our broken bail, speedy trial, and discovery laws, learn how you can help fight back against New York State’s mass incarceration, take action to win real change.
