CCHS granted strategic planning assistance from Documentary Heritage & Preservation Services

NORWICH, N.Y. – The Chenango County Historical Society (CCHS) has been selected to receive strategic planning assistance through the Documentary Heritage and Preservation Services for New York (DHPSNY) Planning & Assessment Services. In conjunction with the New York Council of Nonprofits, DHPSNY has developed a streamlined process to guide organizations in the development of a three-year strategic plan, consisting of webinars, data collection, a facilitated retreat, and follow-up engagement.

“We are very grateful to DHPSNY for this opportunity,” said Jessica Moquin, CCHS executive director. “Strategic planning assistance will help CCHS create a thoughtfully developed organizational structure. Establishing a roadmap for effective decision-making and resource utilization will provide the framework needed for successfully meeting our goals.”

DHPSNY Program Manager Amanda Murray concurred, saying: “We are pleased to support the CCHS team in this important work. This commitment to integrating preservation into a broader strategic vision will strengthen organizational planning and provide a clear path forward for staff and board as they advance their priorities.”

First established in 1939, CCHS is the area’s premier heritage museum dedicated to celebrating local culture — its enduring traditions, noteworthy residents, and unique stories. Programs are made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature. CCHS is also a proud partner of Bloomberg Connects, an app that allows visitors to enhance their exhibit experience through audio clips, videos, and more. Download this free digital museum guide via the Apple Store or Google Play, and visit ChenangoHistorical.org for more details about this and other museum programs.

DHPSNY is a collaboration between two long-running New York programs dedicated to service and support for archival and library research collections throughout the state: the New York State Archives Documentary Heritage Program and the New York State Library Conservation/Preservation Program. DHPSNY is supported by the New York State Archives, New York State Library, Conservation Center for Art & Historic Artifacts (CCAHA), and the New York State Education Department. DHPSNY’s “Strategic Planning Assistance” curriculum was developed in collaboration with New York Council of Nonprofits.
