Herbal Study this month will be held Wednesday November 6th, from 6:30-
8:00pm. We will meet at the herbal apothecary “315 Herbpothecary”
in Oriskany. The address is 101 River Road, Oriskany.
This month we will discuss Rick Simpson oil (RSO) also know as cannabis
oil. It is different than other herbal oil preparations which usually
fall into one of two categories. Either the oils are essential oils of
the plant or plants that have been infused in olive oil. RSO is a
concentration of resin that comes from the cannabis flowers.
Historically plant preparations that were made in a similar fashion were
referred to as oleoresins.

Basically because the plant flowers are covered in resin a solvent is
used to strip the resin from the plant. Then the solvent is evaporated
and pure resin is all that is left. Rick Simpson is a Canadian who
popularized a method of concentrating cannabis and using it to heal
people with cancer and other ailments. His video is linked below.
However, I would not follow his advice on the solvent. He uses naphtha
which is a toxic distillate of petroleum. He claims it is safe because
it is evaporated away. I would just use grain alcohol and not introduce
any toxic material.

When the oil is complete it is taken orally topically or as a
suppository.

I know people who have used this oil in combination with chemo and or
radiation. Some are still with us and others did not survive. I don’t
know anyone personally who used RSO and no chemo or radiation. This
therapy seems to hold some promise and is quite safe in comparison to
pharmaceuticals so we are offering this study group to make people aware
of the possible benefits.

regenerative health as it relates to cancer.
