CABVI offers unique sensory experience at Dark Dining

UTICA, N.Y. –  The Central Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired (CABVI) is pleased to announce that registration is now open for this year’s Dark Dining event, which will take place on Saturday, Oct. 26.

Dark Dining, presented by Bank of Utica, is a fine dining experience that allows guests to enjoy an exquisite meal with senses other than sight.

The night starts with cocktail hour, during which guests can learn more about CABVI while participating in activities that showcase the agency’s vision services. There will also be an array of raffle items available, as well as high-end auction items that guests can bid on right on their phones!

Guests will then enjoy a gourmet five-course meal with the option of eating blindfolded or using glasses that simulate different visual impairments. This gives guests a glimpse into what life is like for the people CABVI serves across 10 counties in New York state.

State Sen. Joseph Griffo, who is a long-time supporter of CABVI, will return as host.

“It is a great honor to once again be hosting CABVI’s Dark Dining experience,” Griffo said. “This educational event helps to raise awareness about visual impairments and supports CABVI and the exceptional work that the organization does in the community, region and state. I am looking forward to another fun evening for a good cause and hope to see you there.”

CABVI provides programs and services for people with vision loss at all stages of life, as well as employment opportunities in its Utica and Syracuse facilities.

Funds raised during Dark Dining help support CABVI’s mission of assisting people who are blind and visually impaired in living full, independent lives.

Dark Dining will be held at the Delta Hotel on Genesee Street in Utica, starting at 6 p.m.

Tickets are $150 per person.

Anyone interested in attending this year’s event can find registration information at cabvi.org/events. Space is limited.

Those who cannot attend the event but are still interested in supporting CABVI can make a monetary gift online at cabvi.org.
