The final tower in the new communications network for the Broome County 911 system is now complete. The network is scheduled to go online next year.
It will replace the current equipment, which has elements that date back to the 70’s. Under the current system police, EMS, fire and DPW departments in the county are not able to talk to one another
“The new system will greatly improve the communication between agencies, improve response time and ultimately save lives,” said Broome County Executive Jason Garner (D).
The new system will support more than 50 different agencies throughout the county.
